Liebertango – Astor Piazzolla

Some of you may know that Ric’s father played accordion, and as a result, Ric also plays. Sounds like a good enough reason for us to do a song that features accordion, right? I have to admit when researching the background history for this piece, I was surprised to see it is a relatively new work. Libertango is a composition by Astor Piazzolla, recorded and published in 1974 in Milan. The title is a portmanteau merging “Libertad” (Spanish for “liberty”) and “tango,” symbolizing Piazzolla’s break from classical tango to tango nuevo.
