    Good Day, Sir!

An excellent question. Are you comfortable working at the Windows level vs. doing everything from OAX? It’s a little quicker and saves a few steps if you are?

    Try this:

    1 – Exit OAX.
2 – Copy the file from the USB stick to c:\My Wersi\MIDI
    3 – Start OAX.
4 – Touch “Accompaniment” on the right side of the OAX Home Screen.
5 – Click “Import” at the bottom of the screen. This defaults to the “Styles” directory.
6 – In the center column, click on MIDI. This will switch you to the directory you copied the file to in step 1.
7 – Select the MIDI file you want and click “Import.”
8 – The system will default to the next available storage location. Click “Save.”

That should do it. You will see all of the MIDI files you have imported into OAX when you touch the physical MIDI button on the console.

I understand that some folks are not comfortable working at the Windows level of the organ. Let me know if the above works for you. If you prefer to skip step one and do everything via OAX commands, let me know, and I’ll pass those along.

Thank you for your reply…makes perfect sense in light of the .wav files. As a new-comer to Wersi, I do find that most of the “Real-Drum” track/styles simply sound better to me.

    Hello Robert,

The difference in Style-Size is due to the fact that they are RealDrumStyles, containing Drum-Audiotracks in WAV-format. These Drum-Audiotracks taking much more space then ordinairy Midi-tracks.
1 minute of Stereo 48KHz/16 bit Audio needs about 10 MB Memory space.
    10 GB of SSD-space is good for +/- 15 hours of Stereo 48 KHz/16 Bit Drum-Audio.
So, don’t worry about the storage capacity of OAX, as there is plenty of space avaiable on the SSD.
For now, i have loaded about 400 of my RealDrumStyles, consuming 10 Gb of the 255 GB avaiable SSD-Storage capacity.

I hope this answers your question and worry’s.

Best Regards, and thank you for using the RealDrumStyles,
    Carlo

    Hi Robert,

I have to admit I’ve never paid attention to the size of the factory or user styles, but an interesting question. Let me reach out to Carlo (the creator of the styles) and see if he can shed any light on the size.

Wersi OAX styles from “Wersi” seem to have a size in the 10’s of KB range; whereas I noticed OAX styles contributed, for example by “Carlo” have sizes in the 10’s of MBs. Can someone explain why there is such a huge difference in sizes?

    HI Frank
Just checked and they are definitely there, however I always use the German page and use google to translate as sometimes it is slow coming to the English page.
There is also a PDF file which you can open and get the links from there, however your computer OS and or browser may block it depending on your security settings, here it is anyway https://www.wersi.net/download/OAX/WeihStyles/OAX%20Weihnachten%20Styles.pdf

It’s the same reason you cannot use a Tyros 5 style on a Tyros 2 keyboard or a later Roland instrument style on an earlier model, OAX has more sounds, drums etc. then OAS so OAS does not know what to do with it.

BTW: sty is a Yamaha format style file, not a Wersi style file. (If you have the OAA on your OAS instrument then you can natively play Yamaha styles up to Tyros 2 so there are a boatload on the web you can download.

As to conversions then Wersi is a niche market so not enough demand for convertors, however if you have the OAA the Yamaha styles are available in abundance so stick with these. (As I mentioned above)

NOTE: if change the sty to mid you can open the style in a DAW (Or any Midi sequencer) and edit it to your hearts content (Just keep it in the same format) and then load it back in to your OAS instrument (Assuming it has the OAA) by changing it back to .sty.

    Hi,

Is there somebody who can explain me what the relation in style is from an OAX to OAS.

I wood like to know , how I can play OAX Styles in an OAS Instrument. All style files have the same .sty as extension , but when I trie to load an OAX style my OAS does not recognised this.

But there still must be a conversion possibility , who can explain this to me ??

    Hi Curt,

I have a question regarding the user style setup. I hope, that this question is not yet covered. Lately I got a nice user style but the selected drumsets were not what I was looking for. So I changed the drumsets in every part of the style (A/B/C/D). Unfortunately I found no way to edit the fills from A to D accordingly. I am not sure whether this is possible. If it is, can you tell me how or where I can information about editing user styles? The only way I know is to use the “view” button…

    Thanks for helping me!

Was coming up with unable to see/find an ini.file plus the route to that file ( sorry should have made a note – think it was maybe styles? ). I tried selecting all possible answers ( Yes,No,Cancel ) with no success.

When I tried with complete upgrade, it just worked.

Not sure if I told you I have swapped my OAX 1 with a OAX 500.

    Hi there,

I have a question regarding the style converter and Yamaha styles. Recently I got some Yamaha styles (no, not from Carlo. D.O.O.) and converted them. As expected Wersi chooses a “genuine voicing”.

    But…

For the bass track an e piano was selected. The result was suboptimal at best 🙂 I tried to choose a bassguitar. But it was very diffiult to find an appropriate sound. On one hand it was a staccato sound (I expected a sustained guitar sound) and on the other I had the feeling that it was an octave to low. Okay, no problem. I found a guitar that sounded good (more or less). And tuning the octave made the result better.

Now my question. Is there a “standard procedure” for correcting the voicing or is it always “try and error”?

    I am just curios…

    Cheers

I have hundreds of Yamaha styles converted on my 800, I think mainly Tyros, but maybe some Genos too – I don’t remember. Check with Jim V to make sure it does support Genos or you will be disappointed.

I would say that 95% convert just fine, and my personal tweaking is to remove or mute some parts, especially bass as I play pedals and have never used auto bass, and some are a bit much for me – ie, they are almost songs in their own right. I prefer guitar strums etc, the sort of thing that adds something that I cannot play myself.

Yes, I did purchase via WersiOrgansUsa and Jim Vogelman – I was surprised to learn (some months ago) that our USA dealer is right in the state where I now live (NC!) [I’m originally from the Boston, MA area).

One thing I want to research is if the Yamaha styles of Genos (which I also own) can be converted easily to Wersi format?

Thanks – hope to find other USA Wersi owners to chat with / share ideas etc., on this forum!

We are up to the third group of free styles for OAX. All credit goes to Carlo, who has been kind enough to allow us to share with everyone. A variety of musical genres to pick from, and we are at around 75 different styles at this point.

Download away and while you are at it, upload a recording (video or audio) of something using one of the new styles.

    Enjoy!

Ok, guys Here’s the first group of styles. Many thanks to Carlo for allowing us to share so more folks can enjoy these styles. I’ll do my best to keep up on the Facebook side should Carlo release more styles in the future and create another group for folks to download. If I counted correctly, there should be 33 styles in this group. Some of them **might** require the Yamaha Conversion future to be installed on your instrument to use them.

    Anthony,

The “OAX Backup” option only backs up the files that OAX uses to configure the organ to make it “yours”. That includes things like user presets, sounds, styles, MIDI files, etc. The size of that backup will change based on how much you have personally added to the organ. I just did a quick backup of mine, and you can see it’s pretty small.

The thing to be aware of is that it is not a backup of the underlying Windows O/S.

    Hi Anthony,

When you say constant, do you mean strumming etc of the same chord by the auto accompaniment, or do you mean just a constant sound from the selected voices for the lower manual.

If the first, then that is normal unless you have loaded a song specific style, whereas I know Lowrey have a lot more ‘twiddly’ bits in their styles. If the second, then it may be that you don’t have the accompaniment button turned on (very left of upper panel) or the volume drawbars set correctly. There is an auto accompaniment volume, and then a mix between drums and accompaniment, so essentially volume and then balance. There are 3 volumes that influence this on the 800.

You can also go into style edit mode and change accompaniment instruments, volumes of each, mute certain parts and much more.

I have had my 800 for well over 3 years now and still finding new stuff all the time.

    Thanks
    Mark

    Hi there,

I would like to add an information. Curt had posted videos and information some time ago regarding the Wersi style converter (Yamaha).

@Curt: you mentioned that only break one (Break 1) will work with converted Yamaha styles.

    That is correct but

the Yamaha keyboards have one break only by design!

On the other hand Yamaha uses 4 fills like Ketron does. The difference is that Ketron uses specific buttons.

On the Wersi you can trigger the different fills (4) by pushing the variation button again…(like on the Yamaha keyboard)

I hope that is nothing everybody already knew 😉

    Cheers

Over the weekend, we started looking into creating our own styles. Along the way, I discovered a video from a few years ago where we began to show some of the basic features in the Style section of OAX. Better late than never – I guess it’s finally time we finish up a few more videos on the topic of OAX styles!

To get started, we have two simple and short examples in this video. In the first one, we are playing left and right hand along with a style. In the second tune, we play the bass line ourselves while the style plays all of the other parts.

    Hi,

With reference to Windows Defender. Obviously if the organ is not connected to the Internet then you are likely not to require anti-virus software – although I guess if you used a USB stick (e.g. for styles) then there is a potential route into OAX. However, I’m not convinced this is a real risk (if any). Sonic seems to be quite tolerant of not doing Windows updates (and I wish I could apply this to my real computer which seems to thouroughly enjoy connecting to MS – much to my annoyance!). Anyway – Windows/MS can be quite sneaky so you have to watch it. As an example: I decided to authorise my purchased copy of the Korg Triton VST that I was messing around with on the Wersi – and I had to connect the Wersi to the internet for no more than 30 seconds to allow the Korg Software to connect to the Korg server for the authorsation. This it did with no problems and within less than a minute I disconnected it again. The next day when checking something or other – I noticed that Windows defender had actually downloaded the latest anti-virus signatures in that 30 second interval. Sneaky or what?? So its left me wondering what might happen if the organ accidently got connected for a longer period?
